Exercise is *amazing.*
Exercise helps us to;
- Lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.
- Fight heart disease and high blood pressure.
- Improve our mood and concentration.
- Gives us more energy.
- Helps us sleep better.
- And building up a good sweat can do wonders for the skin.
If you want to look good and be healthy then you must exercise!
But when is the right time to exercise?
First of all any time is a good time to exercise if you’re not currently working out.
There are numerous health benefits to morning, afternoon and evening workouts but I prefer to workout in the morning and here’s 5 reasons why you should workout in the morning.
1.) Morning workouts get you in the fat burning zone faster
By working out first thing in the morning on an empty stomach your body will not have food to burn as fuel so it will quickly target your fat stores to fuel your workout.
Studies show that by working out on an empty stomach your body starts to use fat for fuel twice as fast compared to working out after eating.
This means your workouts can be shorter but just as effective.
A 30 minute workout on an empty stomach in the morning can burn just as much fat as a 1 hour workout in the afternoon on a fed stomach.
And don’t worry, it’s not dangerous to workout on an empty stomach in the morning, your body can handle it.
2.) Morning workouts wake you up and get you focused for the day
Did you know that exercising can increase mental clarity and brain function for up to 10 hours after working out?
It’s true. By working out in the morning you can become more productive, energized, creative and also put yourself in a better mood.
Exercising releases endorphin’s into the body which make us feel happier and puts us in a better mood.
Hey, you might even make some new friends thanks to being in a better mood!
Ever since I’ve been working out in the morning I’ve been amazed at how much more awake I feel afterwards. It a great way to get rid of that morning grogginess and get you ready for the day.
I also find that my best ideas come while exercising and it’s a good time to think about how I’m going to get the most out of my day ahead.
In short, morning workouts will make you feel much more focused and alert for the day ahead.
3.) Get’s it out of the way early.
I don’t know about you but sometimes I’m just too tired to workout in the evening.
Even if I have good intentions and set a plan to workout in the evening by the time evening finally comes all I really want to do is slump on the sofa and read a book.
Exercise is the last thing I want to do after working all day.
By working out in the morning it gets it out of the way and you can feel good that you’re looking after your body.
4.) Morning workouts prevent snacking big time!
Snacking on junk food is one of the worst things we can do to our bodies.
Even if we tell ourselves we’ll workout later and burn it off, then later comes and we decide to eat some more snacks instead. :-O
By working out in the morning and doing something good for our bodies we put ourself in a positive frame of mind.
By working out in the morning you’ll feel proud that you’ve done a good workout so you wont want to snack and ruin your results.
Since I’ve been working out in the morning I honestly almost never snack anymore. Any thought of snacking just feels like sabotage.
5.) Boosts your metabolism!
I bet you already know that exercise is a great way to boost your metabolism.
By exercising in the morning your metabolism will rise and your body will continue to burn calories faster long after you’ve finished working out.
By using weights or just your body weight in your workouts your metabolism can increase by up to 1.5x.
So you’ll burn an extra 50% more calories than normal throughout the day thanks to your morning workout!
Pretty amazing right?
