We all know that exercise is important.
But there’s so much pressure these days to join a gym. They’re marketed as if they’re the only way to lose weight.
They’ll make you feel that you can’t lose weight unless you join a fancy gym.
But do we really need to join a gym to lose weight and get healthy?
I say no.
I’ve joined a gym a couple of times in my life and both times I ended up cancelling after a month or two to workout at home instead.
Here’s 6 reasons why it’s better to workout from home than a gym
1.) Save Soooo Much Time
One thing I realized when I was going to the gym was that it was taking me 20 minutes to get there and back every day. That’s 40 minutes per day wasted.
By working out at home you’ll save so much time that you can spend doing something more productive.
2.) No More Awkward Situations
You know what I mean right? Those times when you and someone else both go to use the same piece of equipment and it creates an awkward moment between you.
Or those times when you catch someone staring at you when you’re all sweaty and looking a mess and there’s a bunch of people around making you feel self conscious.
So you decide to hit the showers early and then feel disappointed because you didn’t do everything you wanted to do.
I like working out from home because I can do a morning workout and don’t have to be self conscious about how I’m looking.
3.) No More Standing Around Waiting For Equipment
One thing I used to hate about the gym was waiting for someone to finish with equipment I wanted to use.
What’s worse are the people that aren’t actually using the equipment, just sitting there looking around.
It’s important to keep you heart rate up while exercising and sometimes having to wait to use a piece of equipment can really mess up your workout.
By working out at home you get to use your equipment as soon as you need it. No waiting.
4.) No More Getting Sick All The Time
I don’t know about you but when I was a gym goer I was always getting sick.
Gyms are a breeding ground for germs.
Working out from home means you don’t have to use equipment that has just been used by 20 other people.
If just one of them had a cold then there’s a good chance you’re getting it too.
5.) Save Money
Ever feel like your gym is ripping you off?
They charge sign up fees, monthly fees, cancellation fees, locker fees, class fees.
It’s just too much.
Gym prices vary between $350-$1,000 or more per year.
Why not spend that money on some weights or a $100 workout program that doesn’t require much equipment.
Total cost around $200.
You’ll save a lot of money in the long run working out at home.
6.) Easier To Stay Motivated And Consistent
When you have to travel somewhere, get changed and then go and workout in a crowded room it can be hard to stay motivated.
I once got all the way to the gym, walked in and it was just way too crowded for me to feel comfortable to do a workout, so I left and did some exercise at home instead.
When you workout at home that’s something you don’t have to worry about.
You can be more consistent with your workouts because your home is your gym so you can show up every day rain or shine.
