What To Eat While Doing Eat Stop Eat

One thing that seems to confuse people about intermittent fasting is what are you supposed to eat to get the best results?

After following the Eat Stop Eat system I have come up with a few answers that will help you get the best results.

First of all you should not overeat to reward yourself for fasting. So many people seem to think it’s o.k to do a fast and then eat everything in sight after wards.

The reason that we are fasting is to create a calorie deficit, if you then over eat after a fast then you counteract all the hard work you put into fasting.

The best thing to do after a fast as I learned from Eat Stop Eat is to simply forget that you ever fasted and then eat your next meal normally. No rewards or treats.

So now that we have got that out of the way let me talk about how you can get the maximum fat burning benefits from fasting.

I found that by combining a high protein and low carb diet for the first month you will get amazing results.

This is because you are already on a calorie deficit from fasting and by eating a low carb diet your body will be extra low on glucose stores so will target fat for energy much faster.

Carbs are for energy therefore by eating less carbs and more protein your body will burn fat faster.

But be warned, your energy levels will be very low so don’t do this for more than a few weeks at a time.

low carbA good macro count for a low carb diet looks something like 50% protein, 30% carbs and 20% fat.

This will turn you into a fat burning machine when combined with intermittent fasting.

After you have done this low carb diet you can then up your carb intake to a more healthy level. Something like 50% carbs, 30% protein and 20% fat would be healthy.

The great thing about combining the low carb diet with a fasting routine is that you will see incredible results but as I said earlier you mustn’t do it for longer than 4 weeks at a time, if you feel like you need to burn more fat then you can try it again in the future after you’ve taken a break from the low carb diet.

One thing that you will find difficult about the low carb diet is the fact that 50% of your food will be protein and it’s hard to eat that much protein but thankfully because you’ll be fasting 2-3 times per week you won’t have to worry about food that much.

Some good sources of protein are;

  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Red kidney beans and most other beans
  • Egg whites
  • Fish & Tuna
  • Whey protein powder
